Configuration Items Script

Import CIs  

  • In the Bearing Security Operations Workspace, select the “Configuration” icon in the bottom left side of the screen  
  • Select Security Systems Installation, and download the pre-defined import template associated with the classification of the devices (security camera, access panel, card reader, etc.)  
  • Fill out all applicable data and save the file.  
  • The minimum fields needed are ID and Name  
  • ID – The unique ID that will be associated with the device. This can be used to update device information during future imports.  
  • Name – The formal naming convention of the device in your organization.  
  • Best practice is to have the ID and Name fields be the same.  
  • In the Security Systems Installation tab, select the blue “Import Devices” icon at the bottom of the page.  
  • Select the type of device you want to import in the drop-down menu, and then select your file.  
  • Select “Import”  

Edit CI Details  

  • In the Bearing Security Operations Workspace, select the “Configuration” icon in the bottom left side of the screen 
  • Select System Definitions > Open configuration items table  
  • Click on the blue hyperlink that is tied to the CI’s name in the “Name” column.  
  • Edit the data you would like to change.  
  • Click “Update” in the top right corner  

Delete a CI  

*Disclaimer: Deleting a CI is only recommended if you imported a device in error or if there are duplicates. If a CI is no longer active, edit the “Install Status” of the device. This ensures that you have historical data of the device for future reporting. *   

  • In the Bearing Security Operations Workspace, select the “Configuration” icon in the bottom left side of the screen  
  • Select System Definitions > Open configuration items table  
  • Click on the blue hyperlink that is tied to the CI’s name in the “Name” column.  
  • Click “Delete” in the top right corner  
  • Click “Delete” in the pop-up window
