User Guide: Mobile App — QR Code Scanning & SOC Guard Role
Overview
QR-code handling in guard tours is now smarter, and mobile access is governed by a dedicated role.
What's New
- Scan-first check lookup — a guard can scan any QR code and be redirected automatically to the associated check they are assigned to (provided a check exists for that CI, is active, and is within the date range). Guards no longer need to manually associate the check with the correct CI.
- Improved QR generation — SOC admins generate a QR code for a specific CI or Protected Asset and associate it with the related check entry, making it available to mobile users.
- New SOC Guard role — a dedicated role grants guards access to the Bearing mobile-app features.
For SOC Admins
- Assign the SOC Guard role to guard users who need the mobile app.
- From the check/tour configuration, generate QR codes for the relevant CIs or Protected Assets and print/post them at checkpoints.
- Log in to the mobile app (SOC Guard role required).
- At a checkpoint, scan the QR code — the app opens the matching check assigned to you.
- Complete the check as usual.
For Guards
- Log in to the mobile app (SOC Guard role required).
- At a checkpoint, scan the QR code — the app opens the matching check assigned to you.
- Complete the check as usual.
